We visited Hong Kong Disneyland in November, 2019, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Disney Explorers Lodge. We booked an ocean view room for our four-night stay, and we were not disappointed in the view!
The room was spacious and comfortable. The beds were large with great mattresses and two soft pillows and two firm pillows on each bed.
The lobby reminded me of several other Disney hotels: the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge, both at Walt Disney World, and the Grand Californian in Anaheim. The massive lobby opens onto the upper floors, and was in full Christmas regalia at the time of our visit.
Our flight arrived early in the morning, so we grabbed a quick snack of a salmon sandwich and some watermelon juice before we took a quick stroll around the grounds. The gardens are divided into regional areas: Rafiki from the Lion King, representing the African landscape; Little Hathi from the Jungle Book in the Asia section; Kevin from Up in the South American gardens; and Squirt from Finding Nemo, representing Oceania and the South Pacific Islands.
After enjoying the gardens and grounds, we hopped on the resort shuttle to visit Hong Kong Disneyland! You can see my post about my first trip to Hong Disneyland here.
After spending a few hours in the park, we decided to take the subway into Hong Kong proper so we could take the Star Ferry over to The Peak. See my photos of that outing here.
The next day, we had breakfast at the Dragon Wind Restaurant at the hotel. The restaurant is beautiful, and the breakfast/brunch buffet featured a wide array of Chinese dishes (dim sum in many sweet and savory varieties), Western/American favorites (bacon, sausage, eggs), along with many other delicacies from all over southeast Asia.
After breakfast we did a little further exploration of the grounds, starting with the Hathi Jr. gardens.
Then on to the Little Squirt gardens, where the plants and statuary are inspired by Oceania and the Pacific islands.
Next was Rafiki’s gardens, featuring plants and styles from Africa.
And finally the Kevin gardens, a South American wing inspired by “Paradise Falls” from the Pixar movie Up.
