Hotel & Spa Eurasia Maihama, Tokyo

We decided to save a little money our first couple of nights in Tokyo and stay somewhere off Disney property. This hotel and spa came highly recommended from our friend who lives in Tokyo. Hotel & Spa Eurasia Maihama is very close to Disney – we could see the parks from our balcony, and there is a convenient free shuttle bus that runs every half hour.

This hotel is truly amazing. It’s an 11-story hotel built above and around an onsen, or a natural Japanese hot springs bath. One entire floor of the hotel is devoted to the men’s and women’s bath areas, each with multiple indoor pools and baths at differing temperatures, along with several outdoor hot tubs as well! Obviously you can’t take pictures in the bath area, so I’ll put the link to the hotel’s website at the bottom of the post if you want to check it out.

We were excited that we got a room on the top floor. This first photo is from our balcony just after we arrived. I know, it’s dark, but just left of the center of the photo you can see Mt. Prometheus at Tokyo DisneySea, and the Tower of Terror is on the left with the S.S. Columbia behind.

There are a couple of different restaurants inside the hotel. We had dinner at the one that was actually inside the spa. Because of this, you take off your shoes before entering the main spa area, so everyone, including the staff, is in socks! Many people are in their spa clothes as well, so it would be like having dinner in your pajamas! We were still in our street clothes, but it was a fun environment.

The food was great. Toby had some soba noodles and tempura, and I had chicken katsu. The dishes were very fresh, and very authentically Japanese. Rice and miso soup on the side, and Toby had some soft-serve ice cream for dessert. I had two Super Dry Extra Cold Asahi beers … served at -2 degrees! … so I didn’t have any room for dessert!

The next morning, I took a few shots of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea from our balcony.

That night, we decided to venture down to the onsen. This can be a bit of intimidating if you’ve never been to a Japanese bath, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying this unique experience. Here we are in the spa outfits the hotel provides, getting ready to head to the baths.

We also splurged a bit and got an upgraded room with a traditional Japanese soaking tub. This was so wonderful I could have stayed in the tub the whole day! The natural volcanic mineral water from the hot springs below is piped right to the tub.

You probably know the Japan is famous for its many and various vending machines, and our hotel had plenty of these. There was also a little shop in the lobby with food, snacks, beer, sake and anything you might want to enjoy back in the room.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the Tokyo Disney Resort but looking to stay some or all of the time off-property. Here’s the link to the hotel web site: http://www.my-spa.jp/ Click on the “Spa (Day Trip)” tab to see photos of the onsen and baths.
