We wanted to get a great view of Hong Kong, and Victoria Peak is the best place. Conveniently, there is a subway station right by the entrance to Hong Kong Disneyland Park. If you want to get around on the subway in Hong Kong, you’ll need to get an Octopus card. It’s a refillable fare card that you use for the subways, and it’s also accepted as payment at most convenience and grocery stores. Pick one up at any subway station.
After taking the subway to East Tsim Sha Tsui station, we enjoyed a stroll through the streets of Hong Kong toward the pier where we caught the iconic Star Ferry over to Hong Kong Island.
After alighting at the Central Pier on Hong Kong Island, we had another stroll to get to the tram for Victoria Peak. This was one time on our trip where the Google Fi sim card I purchased beforehand came in very handy. Having access to Google maps was a lifesaver here. The regular tram station was under refurbishments, so we had to find our way to an outdoor station nearby. Then we enjoyed a lovely funicular ride up the incline to the peak.
At the top, the tram terminal is inside the Peak Tower, which is an enormous many-level shopping mall. For a few dollars you can get a ticket to go out on the viewing deck where you can see the amazing Hong Kong skyline and take photos.
